Account Manager (Corporate)
About the role
Own corporate field-campaign relationships: brief, quote, close, and stay with the client through fieldwork. Support staff can grow into this track after proving ticket quality and creator-assist ratings. Hired AMs start as apprentice until HR endorses eligible/AM — commission is not automatic on day one.
What you will do
- Own a portfolio of corporate and campaign accounts: briefings, negotiation, accept, live fieldwork care, and close-out. - Run the sales pack → field campaign quote journey with clients; keep them warm through Finance → HR → Legal → Ops approval before send. - Close paid deals ethically: price for fit, not for commission theatre — Finance margin floors apply. - Stay present after accept: AM field deployments, client portal updates, pulse, and renewal/add-on opportunities. - Credit apprentices who shadow deals so the internal ladder stays fair. - Spot market and account upside; translate messy client reality into clear briefs for research and ops. - Protect renewals and reputation: relationships outlast any single invoice.
What you need
- Commercial maturity and crisp communication; reliable follow-through under ambiguity. - Human fluency: read rooms, manage tension, build trust without being pushy or naive. - Comfort with multi-step B2B journeys (brief → quote → negotiate → deliver) and internal handoffs. - Organisation: juggle accounts, deadlines, and field issues without dropping the ball. - Willingness to be measured on closed paid relationships — not activity vanity metrics. - Nice to have: B2B SaaS, research/insights, customer success, or complex sales; survey or evidence-led storytelling. - Must pass Dootsa Careers Academy (professional track, 85%+) before CV review.
Commission & earning potential
Estimates assume closed, paid field campaign deals. Holdback and relationship stipend are separate — commission rewards durable client relationships, not activity alone.
Mid tier from R 150 000,00 · Large from R 500 000,00
Most pipeline does not close — model honesty, not hope.
Relationships, not transactions
Wins come from trust built over briefings, negotiation, and post-accept care. Charisma without follow-through loses renewals and add-ons.
Most pipeline does not close
Sales packs and quotes often stall. A realistic close rate on qualified packs is often well below 50% — plan effort accordingly.
You own the handoffs
Finance, HR, Legal, and Ops must approve before send. The AM keeps the client warm through internal queues without overselling.
Live campaigns need presence
Accepting a deal creates an AM deployment. Field issues, travel, and client portal questions stay on your book until close-out.
Commission is earned twice
Part accrues at accept; the rest pays after payment with a holdback until the relationship proves durable. Easy closes that cancel claw back.
